   Fifth Sunday of Lent

March 29, 2020

"I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in Me, even if he dies, will never die."

John 11:25a, 26

Dear Parishioners,

Greetings in Christ! As we continue to grapple with the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, we must remember to stay close to the Lord in the midst of the emerging changes that this situation will demand.

As the Parish of St. Nicholas, we will continue to function and remain as responsive as possible. To this end, the immediate plan is this: each parish household will receive weekly via U.S. Mail, ParishApp, and email, a schedule for our spiritual life while we are hunkered-down for the duration of this emergency.

These weekly communications will include suggestions for a daily schedule of spiritual exercises, resources for televised Masses, and additional resources.

Religious education of our children will continue. In consultation and coordination with Vickie Venhuizen and our Teachers, we will provide the proper resources for parents and students to complete this year of lessons.  In addition, we are setting up the mechanism to care for our elderly and those lacking in resources to deal with current and future restrictions imposed by necessity.

The sacrifices and limitations we are facing are real. As we reckon with the uncertainties of the current day and the future, let us remain close to the Lord in desire and prayer. We are not alone, and our parish, diocese, and Universal Church will continue to provide for your spiritual welfare in these extraordinary days.
